Although ‘Polka Deli’ was established in late 2003 by founders and owners Monika and Gary Thomaidis, it wasn’t until September 2004 that the first store was opened in Glenroy, Melbourne.
Monika was born in Bydgoszcz Poland in 1978 and migrated to Australia with her parents in 1981 at the age of 3, while Gary was born in Melbourne Australia in 1976 from Greek parents.
Having been heavily involved in the local Polish Community through her parents Monika felt there was no business that was giving people a true and genuine reflection of Polish culture food and lifestyle in Australia.
Hence ‘Polka Deli’ was created with the vision of Introducing Poland to the world! Polka Deli is more than just your traditional deli. Not only do we sell all the traditional Deli product lines, we also sell Alcohol, Cakes, Merchandise, Memorabilia, Cosmetics, Magazines, Books, DVD’s and much, much more all imported from Poland.
Polka Deli supports a number of different Polish organizations and community groups in Australia as well as other charities such as ‘World Vision’ and ‘RCH1000’(Royal Children’s Hospital).
We plan to have a number of stores spread across the world all Introducing Poland!
